As an art historian, Thomas Deprez holds his MA degree in Fine Arts from Ghent University, where he graduated Magna cum laude and wrote a dissertation on the Belgian artist Evariste Carpentier (1845-1922).

Upon graduation, an independent art business was established which concentrates its efforts on his two-sided passion for business and art. Besides an inventory of carefully selected Belgian art from the 19th and 20th Century, services are offered including consultancy, independent art historical research, freelance writing and curatorship, and the management of private art collections.

Growing up between masterpieces of artists largely forgotten by the national and international canon, his eye was formed through quality rather than renowned names. A collector at heart, Thomas Deprez carefully selects his acquisitions on the basis of three criteria: beauty, quality and its historical value. His expertise in the field of Belgian 19th and 20th century art is both manifested in and grows from the thorough researching of every individual work. An internship at a well-respected gallery in St. James's, London, proved decisive in his commitment to the art market.

Thomas Deprez is also committed to the preparation of a new publication on Evariste Carpentier (1845-1922). For expertise or the inclusion of works by this artist in the book, please contact here
