The present unsigned drawing has recently been discovered in a private collection in Gent and reinstated as a genuine work by Jenny Montigny following unanimous agreement by leading scholars in the field of Belgian Luminist painting and the School of Sint-Martens-Latem. Few authentic drawings in the neo-impressionist style by the hand of Montigny, and dating from around 1900, still survive today. Enough however, to make a clear case in terms of attribution following a close examination of the distinctive style, quality and subject of the drawing.
